Feeling discouraged? Check out the best Christian songs for police wives! They’ll encourage and uplift you, and give you the strength you need today.
There’s a reason God made strong women police wives.
Seriously, it seems like you need inhuman strength sometimes in order to make it as a police wife without losing your mind. Luckily, there’s a solid source of perfectly inhuman strength you can always turn to: God.
I listen to Christian music a lot when I’m feeling downhearted, and it helps so much. It takes my mind off what I’m stressing about and puts it back on the good things I want to focus on instead.
The list below are my absolute favorite six songs to help cope with the stress and uncertainty of police wife life – plus background information on each of them, and a few scriptures that go along with each one 🙂
The Best Inspirational Christian Songs For Police Wives
We Won’t Be Shaken by Building 429
My gosh, this song is powerful. The first time I heard it, I was told that they played it at a prayer vigil for the victims of a recent school shooting. I believe it was Sandy Hook, but I can’t quite remember. All I remember is it made me cry and definitely made me feel the power of God.
Needless to say, this song can be applied to a lot of different contexts. You can listen to it when you need encouragement while dealing with the war against cops. You can listen to it when you need encouragement in your marriage – when something has come up that threatens it. You can listen to it when you and your husband are struggling with something together.
It’s just a beautiful song that perfectly captures God’s love for you and the promises He makes – and will never, ever break.
He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.
I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord.
Hope In Front Of Me by Danny Gokey
Oh, Danny Gokey. This man always write songs that speak right to my soul, and this song in particular is one I’ve listened to a lot when I’m feeling discouraged. It’s all about having faith that even when life feels incredibly dark, there’s always a light just up ahead.
I think this song is especially inspiring when you consider that Danny wrote the song after his personal experiences with finding purpose in the dark times of life; especially his experience after the unexpected death of his first wife, which happened just a month prior to his audition for American Idol.
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.”
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Remain by Royal Tailor
I guarantee you’ll connect to this song from the very first line about having the world on your shoulders. Being a police wife means carrying a lot of responsibility on your shoulders, doesn’t it? Supporting your officer is enough to make you feel like you’re going to break at times, but this song is a great reminder that that won’t be the case.
Even when God doesn’t take away the bad things, He’s still working everything for our good. He always wants the best for us, even when it temporarily hurts. This song is a great reminder that his love is constant, perfect, and unchanging – no matter what happens.
When you get through the bad stuff, there’s always a stronger, better you on the other side.
“For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Even If by MercyMe
I think one of the most difficult truths to understand about God is that He is always good, even when life isn’t. I think it’s one of those make-it-or-break-it topics, the reason some people turn from God and think they’re better off without the gospel.
This song is an incredibly brave proclamation, one that states that we’ll always praise His name – no matter what storms we find ourselves in. It’s a statement that we won’t turn from Him, that we’ll trust His goodness even when He chooses not to move obstacles out of our path.
God is in everything – good times and bad. He’s always worthy of our praise because at all times, he sees us, knows us, cares about us, and will always support us if we’re trying to draw close to him. I think that’s just amazing.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.”
“At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” In all this,
Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.”
More Than You Think I Am by Danny Gokey
I feel like there’s a lot of misunderstanding about who God really is these days. And maybe it’s always been that way – it could just be that social media has made the proliferation of those false/incomplete views just a little easier to see.
That’s why I love this song. It helps you see past the doom-and-gloom, fire-and-brimstone gospel some people promote and focuses more on the fact that God is there to help you. He’s there to help in times of trouble, to talk to when you’re upset, to share good news with, to help you make things right when you’ve made a mistake. He’s there for every single aspect of your life.
If there’s anything in life that isn’t two-dimensional, it’s God.
“No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.”
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 4:19
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.”
– Proverbs 4:20-22
Fix My Eyes by For King and Country
This song is almost like a catchy recipe for being more Christlike: the advice contained is to love, give, have faith, be obedient to God, and live without fear.
Talk about solid advice for a police wife 🙂
And truly, the only way to accomplish this fully is to fix your eyes on God. He’s the only one who can teach you and allow you the experiences you need to be refined to be more like him.
Funny story: this is actually a song my husband listened to a lot when he was in the academy. I sent it to him because it spoke strongly to me, but it spoke to him in a different way. So you may want to share this song with your husband, too!
“But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge–do not give me over to death.”
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. ”
-Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV
