About Me

Hey there! Welcome to Love and Blues. I’m so glad you’re here 🙂

When I first met my husband, we talked a lot about how he wanted to be a police officer someday.  I’ll be honest, it’s not something I’d ever thought about.  When we talked about it, it was initially really exciting. Like, woah! He wants to be someone who stops crime and saves people.  Basically, he wants to be Superman.

I started searching for resources online.  There aren’t many and, to be honest, most kind of make the life of being married to a first responder sound pretty scary and overwhelming.  Of course… there’s good reason for that.  It can be really hard, and it can be really scary, and the divorce rate is really high.

Which leads me to starting this blog.

While Love and Blues has had some growing pains as I got through the fledgling blogger stage, into the awkward adolescent stage and into… well, the less awkward, older adolescent stage, I realized what I really want to do with my corner of the internet was help people.

In particular, I wanted to help women like myself who love men who put themselves in harm’s way every single day.  So whether you’re married to a security officer, cop, firefighter, paramedic, or Batman, hopefully you’ll find something helpful here. 🙂

My goal is to help build up first responder marriages and families to be the happiest they can be.  Because even though this life can be difficult, I think there’s a lot of happiness to be found.

When I’m not writing, I’m most likely chasing around my toddler, baking cookies (from one of the hundreds of cookie recipes I pin on Pinterest… no judgment!), reading a good book (John Grisham is my favorite!), or watching a marathon on Netflix (which may or may not mainly consist of Curious George reruns.. Like I said, I have a toddler!).

So, feel free to poke around, check out my posts, and if you have feedback/suggestions/comments/complaints, contact me here 🙂

Happy reading!
